Celebrity Silhouette- Panoramas around Europe

Hi! Everything is as expected. A cruise full of ports means everyone is struggling to do their job but I have a lot of time off and I'm enjoying the Med.

Here's some images of where I have been, enjoy! Oh and click on the images to go to Flickr and see larger versions. All images copyright Sarah Craig. Thank you!

Celebrity Silhouette: Getting Older, Sea Sick and Thank You notes!

Look what I was given yesterday:

From a vow renewal couple I devoted most of my time during the crossing to. And I can't show you that without sharing an image or two...

But I had the time to give them. 13 day cruise and I had only one and half shoots. If I really am "very, very talented" I'm not sure what I am supposed to be doing with it? For sure it wasn't making me enough money to survive at home. On ship I can survive but not save...

Life crossroads, again, haha I'm always like this. I turn 29 in 3 days. 29!!! Anyway.

I'm near Rome in my new home port of Civitavecchia. Actually this ship alternates home ports between here and Venice until September.

The crossing was good, I was only sea sick one day! And I had a good time at the ports. Yesterday was Pisa:

Necessary photo ;)

This cruise we're visiting ports we will be returning to so I need to try and take images for my display. Apparently I might even be able to sell my landscapes although I'm not a landscape photographer! I will try and take something to share with you. Internet is sooo much better in Europe.

Ciao for now.

Return to Celebrity Silhouette and goodbye Carribean

I'm in Antigua for the last time having safely rejoined my ship, Celebrity Silhouette. It's a very strange thing going back to the same ship, almost too easy, it's as if I never left!

Anja, who was covering my studio while I was away, had the same ups and downs with the studio as I did and she tried some stuff and made changes that can only help, as I was desperate for outside input and now I have new ideas myself to implement. She also left me with a booking and I sold that package yesterday, which was a great start and confidence boost!

However everything is about to change and I am intentionally out on land right now because this is going to be the last time for a while! Because I just arrived I haven't done the immigration stuff that means I can go out in the US. So the last port of this cruise tomorrow is a US one. Then it's 3 sea days to New York, where I don't imagine I'll bother with immigration or go out, and then it's 6 sea days of crossing the Atlantic before arriving in Portugal on our way to our new home of Rome! I'm expecting a rough crossing so I will be very glad of land again!

As a result of the crossing I don't expect much photographing and so no blog posting. And then in the Med it's all change. And change is what I need. So I will update as soon as possible!

Lovin' the Allure, not loving jet lag and being in love

It's 4am English time, 11pm Miami time and I'm wide awake, so why not write a blog post!?

I got home yesterday morning from having the most amazing time holidaying on the Allure of the Seas! I mean the sole focus of the trip was to visit Jr, my boyfriend who I've now known 9 months but only been in the same place for 3 months! And when I went into the crew area for the first time again the smell made me sick to my stomach reminding me of being so unhappy working there. However being a guest, and a guest that knows ships was fantastic! I feel very lucky to have been able to experience this. The current photo team on board is wonderful and I loved meeting the new people and spending time with the team (and bringing them guest food!). But I still wouldn't go back to working there myself, that large team just doesn't suit my personality for working (partying is a different matter).

I spent some time with Utku who is currently running the Picture This on board extremely successfully so I now have some more ideas for going back to my Deep Blue Studio. I know the girl covering me on Silhouette is also doing well so hopefully she'll leave me some ideas too! I fly out to join Silhouette again in 2 days, this tiny gap in the middle is very silly but necessary. I've just about finished unpacking and washing two weeks of holiday clothes and now I need to pack 6 months of working clothes! Apart from suffering jet lag I am ready to go back to work and push this studio as much as I can as it crosses to the Europe season. I'm going to be going out of Rome and Venice doing 12/13/14/15 day cruises to the Greek Isles.

Here are some photo highlights from my two weeks cruising the Allure!

Using my right to have as many pictures taken as I want, preferably with friends and particularly Jr!

Turtles and Iguanas at Coral World, St Thomas.

Rum punch after snorkelling a ship wreck in St Maarten.

Doing the Allure zip line over the Boardwalk.

Formal night lobster tails!

A room with a most amazing view.

And yes I am completely in love, leaving him again was the hardest thing so whatever happens in the next few months we've promised each other that the next time we see each other we wont have a reason to be apart again. Getting a Filipino to England looks utterly impossible according to all the online stuff I'm reading so if anyone has any advice and knowledge on this matter let me know (it's not that I wont go to the Philippines, it's that he really wants to come here!)

My next post will come from back on board Silhouette. I hope it continues to be my amazing ship, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing some old friends.

Kirsty: On location in Glasgow (so very far from the Caribbean!)

Visiting my friend Kirsty in Glasgow is becoming a vacation habit now! Last time we stayed in central Glasgow because I had never been, but this time I stayed with her family near the coast.

I knew it would be beautiful up there so I took my camera and persuaded Kirsty to have a really quick shoot on the beach, because I don't do landscapes, I need people in my pictures! We took about 15 mins to achieve these images and I couldn't feel my fingers at the end it was so cold!

I really think these are some of the best pictures in my portfolio now. I am confident with composition and colour now to produce images that represent my style but would also sell. If I can consistently do this now then I have really got to the point I have been looking for with my photography. I know what I want to shoot and how to shoot it!

I'd love some feedback on these, do you my readers also think I've got to a certain point now...?

I've caught up with myself now, which must be a miracle!

So, blog fans, on Saturday I'm getting a plane to that god-awful ship the Allure because my boyfriend is still there! I've photographed that ship enough so I'm actually just going to sit by the pool and not think about cameras for two weeks! I come home for four days and then it's back to Silhouette for my third contract. I'll keep you posted!
