Kirsty: On location in Glasgow (so very far from the Caribbean!)

Visiting my friend Kirsty in Glasgow is becoming a vacation habit now! Last time we stayed in central Glasgow because I had never been, but this time I stayed with her family near the coast.

I knew it would be beautiful up there so I took my camera and persuaded Kirsty to have a really quick shoot on the beach, because I don't do landscapes, I need people in my pictures! We took about 15 mins to achieve these images and I couldn't feel my fingers at the end it was so cold!

I really think these are some of the best pictures in my portfolio now. I am confident with composition and colour now to produce images that represent my style but would also sell. If I can consistently do this now then I have really got to the point I have been looking for with my photography. I know what I want to shoot and how to shoot it!

I'd love some feedback on these, do you my readers also think I've got to a certain point now...?

I've caught up with myself now, which must be a miracle!

So, blog fans, on Saturday I'm getting a plane to that god-awful ship the Allure because my boyfriend is still there! I've photographed that ship enough so I'm actually just going to sit by the pool and not think about cameras for two weeks! I come home for four days and then it's back to Silhouette for my third contract. I'll keep you posted!

Coming home and I'd like you to meet Lilly

I've been home for three weeks now. I've run around the country a little bit seeing my favourite people and now I'm trying to rest, combined with helping my Mum because she's bought a new house and amongst other things I have A LOT of stuff that she keeps for me, so I need to sort that!

One of the most important things I had to do on my return was meet my friend's new daughter Lilly. I received texts and emails the day she was born and remember being in the corridor in the Allure thinking I'm really missing something. I've known Lilly's mum Sarah a really long time, you can see the pictures I took of hers and Paul's wedding here.

Lilly was already five months old by the time I met her two weeks ago. I brought her gifts from all the ports- very spoilt baby! And on my visit I brought my camera. With babies, although I totally lack experience in this area, I believe in minimal intrusion and natural lighting. Unfortunately the British weather sucks, so it was dark grey but this is what I got just staying near the windows for a few minutes.

Deep Blue Studios: GG

OK now I'm really catching up with myself! GG or Gideone from South Africa is another photographer and she asked me to do a shoot for her birthday present. We had a lot of fun doing this...

Why can I not remember any of the ports I shot in, this may have been St Lucia in the back?

SAR_5120

The reason why I went for jumping with this shot is because the crop doesn't work if it's a regular standing, this however works very well!

That's all I have for DBS pictures because I can't share the guest images, hopefully I can photograph some more beautiful photogs next contract!

Silhouette: The Performers

I've been home for nearly two weeks now and what a busy bee I've been! I've been taking pictures because I've really found the love again now and my blog is not even slightly up to date!

I absolutely hate it when my pictures go on Facebook before my blog because I don't feel I get my chance to express myself properly. But since I've been home there's pictures I really want people to have so they have to go up!

So this catch up post is pictures of the performers on Silhouette, I put them up on Facebook because some of these people came home the same date as me so I want them to be able to share them with their families.

Basically what happened is I didn't have any shoots, I was about to sign off and the photo department was fully staffed, so I started disappearing to go shoot things because if you've been following my blog you'll know shows are one of my favourite things!

The first thing I went to was the 70s night in the sky lounge. This proved impossible to shoot as there's nowhere good to stand and it is incredibly dark! Here's two images that are ok.

Next up, but I don't remember when I took them exactly, is the acapella group- Aquadio. One of the benefits of my position is that if something random needs photographing they send me! So Aquadio needed 'promo' shots of performing and cleaner ones on the white background. This is what we got:

Ok the next show I tried to photograph was Celebrity Rox. This is a party on the pool deck but it features a production cast show. I managed to get myself on the bridge right in the middle to try and get good shots:

These pictures are good but then in a moment of pure boredom I happened to get my best pictures! Because the thing was I'd already discovered the Sky Lounge is a rubbish place to take pictures but the singers were doing a Cabaret up there and I really had nothing better to do! However when I got up there they had two spot lights set up for it- amazing! My best pictures by far:

These pictures are just so clear and emotive because of the lighting, I was trying to show the AV guys the difference the lighting makes but I don't think they cared!

Following the Cabaret the party band Sipra continued the entertainment. I love these guys, they work so hard compared to the other musicians and are so very talented, any random request and they can sing it divided across the group, it's not just Jenisa who sings. So I wanted to get some nice pictures for them and I know they were happy with these!
